OGC ladies on fire this week!
Lady Captain Kath Jones can be very proud today as OGC Ladies Section have enjoyed a fantastic week.
It started on Sunday 10th August when Margaret Dunbar, Jude Elder, Jenny Leonard and Sarah Weaver played at Royal St Davids GC in the Florida Scramble Ladies Open. They equalled the top score with a nett 58 and placed 2nd only on countback. A fantastic achievement on a difficult course in a large field of 32 teams (which included Naga Munchetty of BBC Breakfast fame with her team!)
Then from 11th to 13th August Lady Captain Kath took a group of 24 ladies to Portal Golf Club where they enjoyed 2 nights dinner, bed & breakfast and played both courses. Kath was delighted that everyone had such a good time...
On Friday 15th August a team of OGC ladies - Elizabeth Redrup, Jean Williams, Kate Easthope and Louise Phillips - won the Vicars Cross GC Ladies Team Open (best 2 from 4) with a magnificent 94 stableford points on an extremely hot day.
On the same day other ladies played a Friendly match away at Bridgnorth GC and were delighted to win 3:1, with special credit to Andrea Hester who played single handed against 2 opponents and won her match 2 up!
As the Ladies Section celebrates its successes we are also delighted to be welcoming many new lady members, co-ordinated by Lady Vice Captain Bev Howell, and look forward to introducing them to the game.
